This remarkable and rare footage of musk-ox bulls charging each other during the autumn mating season was filmed by client Geoff Glassner during our 2017 'Musk-ox, Autumn Colors & Aurora' wildilfe expedition along the remote coastal tundra of Ungava Bay in Nunavik Canada.

Musk-oxen (Ovibos moschatus) are true arctic animals, well-adapted to the extreme environment with a insulated, long, thick coat of brown hair and woolly undercoat. They became extinct across much of their range in Europe and Alaska, largely as a result of over-hunting, but have been successfully reintroduced. Currently there are thousands of musk-oxen in dozens of herds along the coast and interior of northern Nunavik, Canada. Geoff Glassner writes:

"I had a fabulous time on the ‘Musk-ox, Autumn Colors & Aurora’ trip. The guides, two, were just great – knowledgeable, personable and really catered to our needs (photographic, food, safety and question-wise). Our safety was paramount to them, and they made sure we saw musk-ox every day while getting as close to the animals as possible to get the best pictures and videos, while still being safe."
